Migrants & Workers Unite Against Fascist Attacks, From Here to Our Homelands!
Migrants across the US are raising up their struggle against the fascist agenda advanced by Trump. His dual tools of open state terror carried out by expanding ICE’s mass arrests and deportations, and labeling migrants as dangerous criminals, are designed to maintain the power of corporations to profit from migrant workers: aiming to silence migrants from organizing to defend their rights and struggle against exploitation. Migrants are treated as scapegoats for the economic and political crisis that imperialism itself is at the root of, in an attempt to make US workers support expansion of the state’s ability to attack and repress the people. For every migrant torn from their families, suffering medical neglect in detention, there is dozens of family and community members comprising a mass movement of millions united to defend migrants.
In addition to violent repression, Trump has attacked legal migration pathways and status to tighten the control on migration in the midst of intensifying imperialist crisis.
On Nov 29, Trump announced a “permanent pause” on processing green cards, citizenship, and asylum for migrants from “third world countries”. USCIS immediately suspended immigration from 19 countries, with threats to expand to over 30.
Trump also called for the removal of “anyone who is incapable of loving our country” and denaturalization and deportation of migrants who “undermine domestic tranquility” or are “incompatible with Western Civilization.”
These moves are an escalation of the fascist offensive against migrants, using racist language that openly unmasks the imperialist motivations driving them.
Trump utilized an emergency situation of the national guard shooting to strengthen the state’s ability to attack the people: increasing surveillance of migrants and strengthening the muscle of the deportation machine. This is not purely reactive, but is a calculated step as part of the Trump Regime’s consolidation of power and state terrorism. Resorting to open terror is not a sign of strength, but a move of desperation to save the US ruling class from the worsening self-made crisis of the imperialist system.
The immigration pause itself serves as a leverage point, similar to Trump’s tariffs - used to coerce these countries’ governments to accept greater US militarization and economic plunder. In a world dominated by imperialist powers, countries kept underdeveloped by imperialist domination export their workers abroad like commodities. In preparation for a struggle to maintain hegemony, US imperialism will try to use coercion and force to keep its semi colonies in line, and neutralize countries assertive of sovereignty.
In a move to further enable open terror against and exploitation of migrants, Trump is shutting down investigative agencies tasked to monitor conditions in detention centers. Thousands of migrants are suffering from injuries, medical neglect, abuse, and even death inside detention centers, only seeing justice when the peoples movement, rather than the state agencies, take action. The liberal mask is being removed to pave the way for an escalation of violence against migrants.
Migrants and working people across the US are advancing struggles against the inhumane treatment of migrants in detention, for ICE out of our workplaces and communities, and for the liberation of their homelands from imperialist control. These struggles are the greatest fear of Trump and the imperialists, and will only heighten until the fascist attacks end once and for all.
