No War on Cuba!

In November 2025, the US released the updated National Security Strategy calling for a revival of the Monroe Doctrine of 1823, in which the US claimed the entire Western Hemisphere as its domain. To carry out this claim, the US attacked Venezuela's capital and kidnapped President Maduro and First Combatant Flores, who remain detained in Brooklyn to this day. In May, the US expanded sanctions against "material supporters" of the Cuban government and indicted former President Raùl Castro.

The recently released report from the US State Department "Cuba: The Capital of 21st Century Communism" is a vicious attempt to demonize the Cuban people's rightful resistance and solidarity and to justify the US' further sabotage and looming invasion of the archipelago. It also demonizes progressive organizations and individuals that sympathize with the Cuban people following clear patterns of rising McCarthyism and heightening repression against dissidents and progressive movements.

The aggression against anti-imperialist governments abroad is paralleled by escalating repression against the people within the US. While pouring billions of dollars into surveillance technology and militarized policing, Trump released a number of executive orders directing his regime to target left-wing groups and individuals through every means necessary. In July, Secretary of State Marco Rubio convened a summit of over 60 countries to push for more international cooperation against so-called "Far-Left Political Terrorism."

These acts of suppression are indicative of an empire flailing to maintain its grip on power as the peoples' resistance grows stronger while other world powers compete with the US' position at the top. The US seeks to destroy any alternative to the dying capitalism that it champions, and Cuba's revolution has stood as an important example of oppressed peoples' struggle for freedom. The impact of the 60+ years of blockades on Cuba have only intensified since Trump cut off oil supplies to the country. This is a cruel and inhumane collective punishment on a people who are now suffering catastrophic shortages of food and medical supplies. These tactics are similar to the horrid Zionist ecocide and genocide of Palestinians, where essential goods are cut off through military force.

The Cuban people continue to show the power of the people in shaping their own destiny. In the face of devastating US sanctions, they still boast a high literacy rate with free education from elementary through university. Prior to the oil cut off, Cuba had medical programs superior to that of the US, with one of the highest doctor-to-patient ratios in the world, and showing exemplary solidarity by sending their doctors to provide healthcare around the world. Cuba continues in its steadfast resistance as they defend their sovereignty against the world's most vile bully and resist illegal US occupation of Guantanamo Bay.

We must stand in firm solidarity with the Cuban people and their struggle to maintain sovereignty, along with the people of Latin America, and all those challenging US imperialism. All the more, we must do our part to expose Trump and Rubio's lies, counter their attacks on the people of Cuba and the rest of the world, and fight from within the belly of the beast to bring US imperialism down!
