From the River to the Sea, the Palestinian People will Liberate Themselves!

The recent declarations by the UK, France, Canada, Australia, Portugal, Belgium, and other states to recognize the state of Palestine, 77 years after these same states created “Israel” and allowed it to attempt to wipe Palestine off the map, show less about how these states want to protect Palestine and more about how they want to protect “Israel”.

For decades, these same states have stood by and protected the Zionist genocide-in-the-making and did nothing. Since the so-called “Two State Solution” was supposedly brought into being with the 1993 Oslo Accords, they allowed “Israel” to expand its settlements, murder and arrest Palestinians, and openly declare that they would never allow a Palestinian state to be formed.

The recognition of Palestinian statehood by these Western powers comes at a time when a Palestinian state has been more under threat than ever before. It comes at a time when they are looking to shore up the Zionist-created Palestinian Authority (PA) to crush the Palestinian resistance forces, the true forces that the Palestinian people see as their representatives. They also did this at a time after it was ensured by the US that the PA would be barred from attending the United Nations General Assembly using US diplomatic might with one hand as it feeds its military might to the Zionist genocide with the other.

What the Palestinian statehood declarations by Western powers signifies is that these powers, all holding massive colonial territories at the time of the 1948 vote to create the Zionist entity, can no longer stand by with straight faces as the world's people denounce them in outrage for their genocide-supporting hypocrisy, and they must now make a symbolic gesture. It also shows how the majority of the rest of the world's nations, many having freed themselves from the Western powers’ colonial grasp since 1948, are asserting their voices in ways they could not do before.

Ultimately, it is a reminder that imperialist governments will only bend when they are exposed and confronted for what they really are. Their political might will only bend to the militant resistance of the people.

Palestine will free itself, it will not have its freedom and rights "declared" by any foreign power. The people must stand with them and call for an end to the occupation and genocide!
