All workers unite to fight fascism, imperialist war, & exploitation!
The International League of Peoples' Struggle-US joins all working people in the US and around the world on International Workers' Day! Amid the worsening economic and political crisis of imperialism, it is the struggle of working people against their oppressors that will crush US imperialism, end the exploitative system of monopoly capitalism, and bring about genuine change.
The Current Situation
The cracks in the system have been widening in the past year, the inherent instability of US imperialism is on full display. Life in the US is increasingly unaffordable for working families. As oil corporations jack up gas prices to obscene rates, more money is drained from the pockets of commuters, who have been priced out of living near their workplaces. Food prices, especially at increasingly monopolized grocery stores, are increasingly unaffordable. Higher education is a pipe-dream for many families, because student loans would saddle them in debt for the rest of their lives and landing a higher paying job after graduating is not guaranteed. Wages are not keeping up with the pace of inflation, or the cost of life in general. Federal minimum wage remains at a ridiculously low $7.25 per hour, forcing many workers to work far more than 40 hours a week, pick up second or even third jobs, and slash spending to only the most vital needs to make ends meet. Migrant workers in the US are especially impacted by the economic crisis, with businesses exploiting their vulnerable status to rake in higher profits, give lower wages, and cut costs on workplace protections. Inequality continues to deepen, with the top 1% of households owning 31.7% of all US wealth in the third quarter of 2025, the largest share on record since starting to track these metrics in 1989. Workers are squeezed for profit at every turn by the US state and the monopolies it serves, the consequence of the imperialist system in crisis taking all steps to enrich itself in the face of intensifying rivalry and decay.
As the economic crisis worsens, so too has the political crisis, causing the already heavy burden placed on working people in the US and around the world to intensify at record speeds. In an effort to maintain access to markets to dump their goods, people to exploit for greater profit, and resources to plunder, the US launches increased acts of war and more aggressive state attacks against working people. US-led war in West Asia has exacerbated the rising cost of oil causing the cost of food and gas around the world to skyrocket and has caused the displacement of millions from their homelands. Through policies like the One Big Beautiful Act, the US state under Trump has aggressively worked to slash the already limited benefits afforded working people from access to healthcare and to education while also causing mass layoffs. Its estimated over 1 million jobs will be lost by 2030 in key industries. As working people's livelihood is attacked, billions of US tax payer dollars are funneled into expanding the war machine with $118 billion additional dollars allocated to weapons systems, personnel, and facilities, used to strike at nations the US aims to dominate and plunder, and brings the deadline of war between imperialist rivals ever closer. This is accompanied by $192 billion increase to "immigration enforcement" to enhance the capacity of the US state to attack migrant workers, many of whom were forced to leave their homelands due to US imperialism's devastation of their nations livelihoods.
Unionization and Workers Fights
Despite the ever-worsening economic conditions, fascist attacks and war-mongering, and the terror unleashed on our communities and homelands abroad, working people are rising up - organizing their strength against US imperialist interests and striking blows against our enemies. As we celebrate another year of working class struggles, we join those in the fight against US imperialism, addressing not just the day-to-day economic issues but raising the fight to higher levels as we develop the fight against US wars of aggression abroad and fascism in our own backyards. It is the working class that is at the helm of these struggles and is integral to the genuine change that is needed.
In the US, there is a growing surge of increased organizing among workers taking action. Work stoppages and strikes have once again been on the rise, with hundreds of thousands of workers striking nationally across different sectors - marking a decisive shift after decades of the ruling class working to dismantle a militant workers movement. Not only are workers increasingly taking up the fight for better wages, improved working conditions, and job security, but they are also beginning to link these fights for livelihood to the struggle against Trump’s fascist agenda and warmongering. In the struggle against ICE, unionized workers have connected with immigrant workers, migrant workers, and other precarious workers who are often deprived of the opportunity to unionize as they fight back against fascist attacks. Workers of different sectors are increasingly coordinating their efforts across different workplaces such as the case of health workers combining forces with food service and janitorial workers, baristas connecting with garment workers and longshoreman, and more in striking blows against common targets.
As we continue, working people must increase their organizing and their fighting capacity, raise the struggle to greater heights, and build solidarity in unified struggle against a shared enemy. ILPS-US remains steadfastly in solidarity and enjoins side by side with working people in the US and around the world. All workers - organized and unorganized, formal or informal, and including migrant workers - in all sectors and industries must unite not only to fight for better conditions, but to fight against imperialism, oppression of our homelands, and to fight for a bright future free from the chains of capitalism!
