1 Year of Trump, 1 Year of Resistance: Build the Peoples Movement Against ICE Terror, US War, and Corporate Greed!
ILPS-US has taken action throughout the year in a united fight, bringing organizations, unions, and peoples movements together to oppose Trump's rule and fight back against the implementation of his anti-people policies. We took to the streets on the 1 year of his return to power, kicking off another year of fierce resistance to Defend Our People! Defend Our Communities! And to put People Over Profit!
As the head of the US imperialist state, Trump is unleashing open terror, war, and economic violence against the people. Fascism is the last resort of the ruling class to cling to power in a decaying system, a violent response to the worsening decline of US imperialism. Trump's OBBA is a vehicle for this fascist offensive against the working class: expanding the capacity for capitalists to maximize profits, privatizing and cutting essential services, and funneling this funding to expand the state's ability to attack and repress the people. From the ICE and the national guard's occupation and open violence in cities across the US, to the military and economic offensive against nations defending their resources like Venezuela, Trump has continued to drive an imperialist meltdown, heightening the crisis of the ruling system and unleashing exponential misery on the people of the world.
In the face of intensifying fascism, ILPS US built unity in action against imperialist attacks on the people. We raised the call for ICE OUT of our communities, workplaces, and schools, and contributed to concrete victories in freeing migrants from detention. We linked up and strengthened workers struggles against intensifying exploitation and repression, from Starbucks workers to healthcare workers. And we took to the streets with the movement against US imperialist aggression, standing in solidarity with the people of Venezuela, Palestine, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and more. Through coordinating and raising up our campaigns, we are able to build a strong mass movement capable of achieving larger wins for the people.
To end imperialist terror, we must build a mass movement that can rise up and change the system at its core. To build that mass movement, we must elevate the struggles of the working class, as they experience the brunt of the worsening crisis, and draw in a broad united front of people from all walks of life to come together and fight back against fascism and imperialism.
The contradictions of the imperialist system will continue to sharpen and the US will escalate its violence, meaning more international solidarity is needed between the working people of the US, the peoples movements fighting to free their nations from imperialist control, and nations asserting rights to their resources and sovereignty. Though Trump's presidency is a dark moment for the people of the world, our future will be forged in struggle and it will be bright.
